Ami Patel

Ami Patel is the founder and director of Mind the Gap Consulting, with offices in the UK and the US.  Ami is a senior executive with over 25 years of experience driving successful legal and business outcomes for public and private companies.  A former general counsel, she specialises in Commercial and IT Transactions, Cybersecurity topics, M&A integration work and serving as or building out the “legal function” for growing companies.  A strong communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of an organisation,  Ami effectively and navigates a variety of business environments, cultures and personalities.

Most recently, Ami served as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at Sharecare, Inc., a 2500-employee, digital health company, where she transformed and led all aspects of the legal and compliance function.  Key accomplishments include building the legal function, decreasing law firm spend by 20%, GDPR readiness, data breach preparedness, incident response management and standing up the company compliance program internationally.

Prior to Sharecare, Ami spent 16+ years in legal and business roles at McKesson Corporation, a Fortune 6 company.  During her tenure, she led the global IT + Technology legal function and handled the highest level of complex and sensitive matters on behalf of the CIO/CTO, resulting in multi-million dollar annual savings and cost avoidance.  Seeing an opportunity to drive efficiency, she stepped up into the additional role of Interim VP, Indirect Procurement and Vendor Management.  She also served as a special advisor to the CIO of McKesson Europe (Stuttgart, DE), handling a variety of integration challenges flowing from McKesson’s acquisition of Celesio A.G. and achieving concrete savings of €20M over a two-year period.
